Dano Winery has a 1-hectare vineyard. Their primary grape variety is Rkatsiteli, but they also produce Kakhuri Mtsvane, Buera, Saperavi, Pinot Noir, and Cabernet Sauvignon. They plant old Georgian grape varieties: Grdzelmtevana and Vardisperi (rose) Rkatsiteli. Dano Winery uses no herbicides or fertilizers and does not irrigate its vineyards. Dano's Winery is a true family business: "Dano" stands for David and Nona. In this wine, they honor both traditional Georgian wine culture and the personal history of their house.
As a member of the Georgian Natural Wine Association, Dano's guarantees a pure, honest wine without compromise—made in qvevri, using only grapes, care, and sunlight. The wine is aged for several months in contact with the skins, yet retains a light and refreshing flavor—a rare balance for qvevri wine.
