Zhostovo painting is a folk art craft of painting metal (tin) trays, which has existed since 1825. The main motif of Zhostovo painting is a flower bouquet.

The history of Zhostovo and the Zhostovo craft dates back to the beginning of the 19th century. In the 1960s, a new stage in the history of Zhostovo began, which continues to this day. Artistic painting of trays gained increasing authority and popularity thanks not only to mass-produced products, but also to unique works by leading masters, which increasingly attracted attention at numerous exhibitions. Over the course of their history, Zhostovo trays have transformed from household items into independent decorative panels, and the craft, which once served as a support for agriculture, has acquired the status of a unique type of Russian folk art.

Zhostovo is recognizable precisely by its unique bouquets with their inherent brightness of colors. At the same time, today Zhostovo artists paint not only flowers and not only on trays.
